Thalia Villegas

Thalia graduated from the Law School of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). Her practice focuses on domestic and international investment and commercial arbitration, representing clients in the areas of construction, airports, telecommunications, electricity, mining, hydrocarbons, investment funds, bankruptcy law as well as food industry. Other fields of expertise include Civil Law (Contracts and Civil Liability) and Real Estate and Registry Law. She is fluent in English.

Associate in our BFE+ Litigation practice area since 2020.

Academic Activity

At present, Thalia holds a position as a teaching assistant of the Investment Arbitration course delivered by the Law School of Universidad del Pacífico, and of the Private International Law course at the Law School of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). She is a former teaching assistant of the Domestic and International Commercial Arbitration course delivered by the Law School of the PUCP. Prior to that, Thalia was a teaching assistant of the Private Law Institutions 1 and Typical Contracts courses given at the Law School of the PUCP. Moreover, Thalia was a research assistant of the Logic course given at the General Studies-Liberal Arts Program of the PUCP.

She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the THEMIS civil association, Director of the Publications Committee and Editor-in-Chief of the THĒMIS law publishing house, in charge of editing and publishing several books, such as Psychological Analysis of Law coauthored by Alfredo Bullard and José María de la Jara, and The art of “attesting to”: 4th and 5th Conference on Registry and Notarial Law of the PUCP’s Instituto Riva-Agüero.

In addition, Thalia is a former member of the team representing the PUCP at the 13th International Arbitration Competition – MOOT UBA, organized by Universidad de Buenos Aires and Universidad del Rosario, and at the 13th International Competition on Arbitration and Commercial Law – MOOT MADRID, organized by the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and the United and the (CNUDMI).

Acknowledgements

Recipient of the PUCP-funded BEAS Scholarship for outstanding academic performance, which covered all the tuition fees charged by the university.

Winner of the 4th Summit of Dominguino Leaders on domestic and international affairs, organized by the Congress of the Republic of Peru.
