Freedom comes with Responsibility
Alfredo believes that true freedom comes with responsibility. Being the master of your destiny means bearing the cost of accomplishing it. The strength of a team lies in the diversity of talents and disciplines of its members. Alfredo holds an LL.M. from Yale University, United States, and an LL.B. from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP); he has experience in the areas of arbitration, contracts, international trade, civil liability, competition law, economic regulation, and consumer protection. Law, as well as its practice, cannot be explained within the boundaries of legal theories. It is essential to complement legal practice with economics, psychology and other sciences, in addition to artistic disciplines such as theater, cinema and literature. Emotions, particularly empathy, take priority over logic if we want to be persuasive.
Alfredo is a member of the Academic Council of the Master’s Degree in European Union Law (Master’s Program of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Spain). Moreover, he has been ranked in the “Star Individuals” and “Most in demand Arbitrators” categories in Dispute Resolutionby Chambers & Partners in 2020 and 2021. He has been granted the Robert Cooter award by the Latin American and Iberian Law and Economics Association (by its acronyms in Spanish, (ALACDE), for his distinction in service to the community of scholars, and is considered among the “Thought Leaders – Arbitration 2021” by the Who’s Who Legal site. In his spare time, Alfredo writes and acts in plays (“At the end of the day, a lawyer is a storyteller, a scriptwriter and an actor”). He also enjoys listening to AC/DC and Sui Generis, as well as travelling , especially to places he has never been to before.
